Privacy policy

What other players can see

• Your first name and last initial, photo (if you add one), pronouns and bio.
• Your level, playing style, game types, usual times, neighbourhood and home courts.
• Games you host or join, and messages you send in chats you're part of.

What stays private

• Your email address and password. We never show these to other players, and your password is stored scrambled so even we can't read it.
• If you use Continue with Google: your name, email address and Google account ID. We never see your Google password, contacts or anything else in your Google account.
• Your exact location. If you use “Use my location”, it only picks your nearest neighbourhood on your device; we don't store coordinates.
• Who you've blocked or reported.
• Messages you send from Help & feedback, with any screenshot you add, the email to reply to, the page you came from and your browser type. Only the Rally team sees these.

How we use your information

• To suggest players and games that fit, and to notify you about your games.
• To send the emails you need, like password reset links.
• To keep Rally safe, including reviewing reports.
• We don't sell your data or show you ads, and there's no tracking or analytics.

Where it's kept

• Rally runs on servers in the United States (California) provided by Railway, and a backup copy of the database is kept with Cloudflare. That means your information is stored outside Canada and can be subject to the laws of the United States.
• Emails from Rally are sent through Google Workspace. If you use Continue with Google, Google handles that sign-in.
• Court maps load from OpenStreetMap when you open them, so OpenStreetMap sees your IP address, like any website you visit.
• These companies store or handle information for us so Rally can run. We don't give your information to anyone else to use for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

• Your profile and activity stay until you delete your account.
• Deleting your account removes your profile, the games you host, your spots in other games and your notifications straight away. Messages you sent stay in their chats, shown as from a “Former member”. Reports and Help & feedback messages you sent are kept for our records, without your contact details.
• Deleted information can stay in our backups for up to 7 days before they roll over.
• Password reset links expire after an hour, and logins after 30 days.
• If we remove an account for breaking our terms, we keep its email address so it can't be used to join again.
• Our hosting provider keeps short-term technical logs, like IP addresses and pages requested, to keep Rally running and secure.

Cookies and your device

• Rally uses one cookie to keep you logged in, plus short-lived ones while you sign in with Google. No advertising or tracking cookies.
• A few things are saved in your browser, like your upcoming games so they show up when you're offline, and your answers while you set up your profile. Your upcoming games are cleared when you log out.

Your choices

• Edit your profile any time, turn off “new game” alerts in Settings, and delete your account from Settings, which removes your profile immediately.
• To get a copy of your information, correct it, or delete an account you can't log in to, email support@rallyvictoria.ca from the address on your account or use Help & feedback. We'll reply within 30 days.
